Farewell Honest Ed's
Last month, we said goodbye to Honest Ed's - this time for good. The iconic bargain store located in the heart of downtown Toronto was a prominent landmark and was opened in 1948 by the late Ed Mirvish. The store consisted of two buildings connected by a walkway and featured everything from knick knacks, food to clothing and more.
It was a bitter sweet farewell for many Torontonians, but we are happy to report that Honest Ed's definitely got the farewell it deserved. From February 23 - 26 2017, thousands of Toronto residents, and those visiting to say goodbye, got to experience the living urban legend like never before - thanks to a community based initiative known as Toronto for Everyone. Art, dance, film and installations greeted you at every corner - providing plenty of photo ops.
Attendees also got a chance to own a little piece of Honest Ed's history via the merchandise that we co-created with Sid Lee & Toronto for Everyone. Here's a look at some of it.We hope that everyone enjoyed the party as much as we did! Thanks for the memories Honest Ed, you will be honestly missed.
