Case Study | Boundless School
About the Client
Boundless is a therapeutic, outdoor adventure-based high school for struggling teens. Their mission is to help youth find their mojo, and get closer to, or fully earn, a high school diploma. They further hope to equip young people with the skills and resilience to navigate their mental health challenges and strive for meaningful lives. The Boundless “classroom” is a 600-acre piece of paradise in the Madawaska Valley of Eastern Ontario, where kids spend a minimum of five days and up to three hundred days of intense learning and personal development. The outcomes the students achieve are transformational and astonishing.
The client was looking for some apparel for their students and staff, to wear with pride! They wanted something that would appeal to a younger demographic and their staff.
Our graphic designer Kevin, created a unique design for The Boundless School t-shirts. Here he explains his process:
With a little research, it quickly became obvious that what sets The Boundless School apart from most schools is its distinctive shoreline location along the Madawaska River. With over 600 acres of rolling hills, cliffs, forests, and whitewater, The Boundless School has nature at the forefront.
As such, we wanted the Madawaska River to be the focal point of our design, stretching diagonally across the chest with the boldest line-weight.
To fill in the rest of the Valley, we sprinkled in a few trees and rolling hills to give it a hand-drawn topographic map feel. The GPS coordinates, although minimal in design, paint a larger picture for those who have experienced its location, giving the shirt a personal experience for staff and students.
We ended up with a collection of retail quality t-shirts, tanks and hats. The shirts come in a variety of colours, printed with Kevin’s design.
A quick turnaround and a custom design later, the client was very happy.
We love the t-shirts and hats. They are already popular among the staff.
We can’t wait to see the Boundless merch out and about!
